WHAT ARE VARICOSE VEINS      The thickened , twisted  or dilated parts  of the veins are called varicosities Varicose  veins are two types they are deep veins and superficial veins. Varicose vein are form anywhere in the body , but they are most often located in legs. Varicose veins are the superficial, visible, bulging, veins, felt under the skin. They generally are larger than one eighth inch in width, and are usually located along the inside part of the calf or thigh. Varicose veins develop due to weakness of the vein wall and because the valves of the veins no longer work. Under the pressure of gravity these veins can continue to expand and, in time, they may become longer, twisty, pouched, thickened and painful. Veins carry deoxygenated blood back to our heart. In our legs, blood is collected in the superficial veins, just below the skin surface, and delivered to deeper veins that run within our calf muscles. The muscular action of our calves helps to pump the blood agains
